Dear Supporting Churches and Praying Friends,
“FAITH FOR DESPERATE DAYS”
The Bible is full of such days. What is recorded in the Bible is made up of them, its songs are inspired by
them, its prophesy is concerned with them, and its revelation has come through them. The desperate days are
the stepping stones in the path of light. They seem to have been God’s opportunity and man’s school to
wisdom, knowledge, and faith.
Since the earthquake in Haiti, there have been many of these desperate days for many of the Haitian
people. Our goal has been to strive and help them in as many ways as we possibly could. But our main
objective has always been and will continue to be sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with them. Haiti is a dark
Country, ramped with voodooism. And without Christ in their lives, they will have no faith for their desperate
days, which are many.
I want to share one illustration with you and that is in the life of a little 12 yr old girl. Her family was among
those affected by the earthquake. In fact, the family consisted of her mom and dad, and 10 brothers and
sisters. When their home collapsed, it killed both her mother and father, and all 10 of her siblings leaving only
her, alone. She was wounded and ended up in a clinic in the Dom. Rep. She recovered from her wounds
physically but was an emotional wreck. We embraced her and shared with her the gospel of Christ and she
accepted Him as her Savior. She now has the “faith she needs for those desperate days,” and is no longer
alone.
There are also many others this month who have obtained this same “faith” by being saved. There were
21 saved in Las Guazaras, 10 more saved in Neyba, 6 in Batey #5, and 12 in Barahona totaling 49 more
salvation decisions this month. And 28 of those have already been baptized. “Praise be to God!”
“FURLOUGH”
We are now home on a short furlough and will return to the field on Oct 7th. Please pray for traveling
mercies and that we would be a blessing to the churches that we will be reporting back to.
I also must share a great blessing with you. Mary went back in for another Doppler on her leg to check the
progress on her blood clot. And glory be to God, it has completely dissolved. She can now be taken off the
blood thinner! This is an answer to all our prayers! Many thanks to those of you who were praying about this.
“ANOTHER CONTAINER”
We praise God for the first container that came in and what a blessing it was to our people. Enough funds
have come in to allow Direct Line Ministries out of Ohio, to ship 2 more containers in to us. The only thing we
have to do is fill them. If any churches would be interested in doing a food drive of dried goods and canned
goods, please contact me on my cell phone, (660) 349-7209, and I will e-mail you a list of items that would be a
blessing to our people. Paul Deem, the Director of Direct Line Ministries has a truck, and would be willing to
pick up the items from your church and take them back to his warehouse to be put on the container for
shipping. So please contact me if you are interested .
Again, thank you all for your faithfulness to us and may God bless you abundantly.
You Servants For Souls,
Bob & Mary Johnston
